Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Structure Engineer to join our team at Ringway Jacobs. As a key member of our structures service, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing structural maintenance and refurbishment on Highway Structures.

Your primary responsibility will be to manage bridge data, emergency call-outs, NRSWA compliance, and budget control while mentoring junior staff. You will also be responsible for working on structure refurbishment, assessment, and replacement projects, utilizing your expertise in structural design codes, DMRB, MCHW, and CDM regulations to deliver high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support the implementation of Health and Safety, Environmental Management System, Quality Management System, and Construction policies and procedures.
  2. Design Management in a positive and constructive manner, with the aim of minimising work-related injuries by implementing Essex Highways policies and procedures.
  3. Prepare design, planning, programme highway structures works and services.
  4. Offer advice and expertise in the delivery of work based on engineering knowledge and experience.
  5. Provide timely and accurate advice to County Councillors, District Members, Parish Councils, and the public on all structures-related matters as required.
  6. Understand the overall functions, aims, and directions of Essex Highways, and how the structures service fits into those objectives.
Requirements
  1. Design knowledge with Eurocodes and modern standards, DMRB.
  2. Knowledge and application of Health and Safety legislation including Construction (Design & Management) Regulations.
  3. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with people both internally and our supply chain partners.
  4. Hold a valid driving licence as attending site visits will be required.
