Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of the annual Departmental Resource Accounts, ensuring that these are completed accurately and in accordance with the relevant reporting timeframes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual Departmental Resource Accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting timeframes.
  • Process fixed asset addition forms and reconcile multiple control accounts.
  • Carry out the annual fixed asset verification exercise.
  • Prepare the Departmental Consolidated accounts, including completion of consolidation packs based on NDPB draft accounts.
  • Review the Department's approach to consolidating the VG and GMI schools into the Group accounts to ensure consistency and appropriateness.
  • Facilitate the audit of the WGA by the NI Audit Office.
  • Monitor the FRT GAE budget and the Departmental Depreciation/Impairment budget.
  • Arrange the laying or presenting of NDPB accounts where the Department has responsibility.
  • Monitor the progress of NDPB accounts preparation, certification, and laying.
  • Prepare accurate and timely accounts for the Youth Council.
  • Provide input to Assembly Questions and Freedom of Information requests as required.
  • Comply with health & safety, data protection, and information security requirements set out in the current NICS policy and guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Strong accounting and financial management skills.
  • Experience in public sector accounting and financial management.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
