This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy data input, coding, and filtering correspondence to maximize patient care. You will need to possess excellent attention to detail, good IT skills, and the ability to prioritize workloads effectively while maintaining a high standard of document management.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Transfer relevant data from clinical correspondence and input into electronic patient records.
- Process and manage clinical correspondence according to divisional protocols using workflow software.
- Filing and retrieving paperwork, ensuring the security of data at all times.
- File copies of discharge summaries electronically and record allergies and sensitivities.
- Code and link each problem appropriately, reviewing and summarizing patient records.
- Handle telephone queries, redirecting as necessary, and identify clinical actions to refer to GPs.
- Process medication changes, referring to GPs as required, and ensure the timely completion of safeguarding documentation.
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the scope of the role and within your skill set as requested.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Medical terminology and reception protocols.
- Telephone call management skills, including taking, parking, and transferring calls.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and other relevant software packages.
- Experience within the NHS or General Practice, with a focus on clinical coding and summarizing.
