Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Facilities Technician to join our team. As a key member of our data centre operations team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, operation, and rectification of electrical faults and breakdowns, as well as the heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution, and control and monitoring systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Maintenance
    • Inspect, maintain, and repair various data centre systems, including electrical distribution, HVAC, and control and monitoring systems.
    • Provide daily assistance to senior technicians, including reading blueprints/schematics/sequences of operations, conducting tours of systems, and assessing their working order.
  • System Operation
    • Manage the uptime and maintenance of UPS, generators, electrical distribution, and control and monitoring systems.
    • Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in the data centre facilities systems and equipment.
  • System Integration
    • Support startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into facilities infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Qualifications
    • Ideal qualifications include an electrical apprenticeship or equivalent City and Guilds, NVQ's, 18th Edition, test and inspection, or other electrical certified training.
    • Entry-level qualifications include 2 years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • 2 years of experience in the maintenance of electrical distribution systems or construction/technical environment or a related field.
    • Experience in critical engineering environments such as data centres, hospitals, pharmaceutical, power plants, manufacturing, production, heavy industrial, or X forces.
    • Knowledge of electrical systems, including low voltage, medium voltage, and advantageous high voltage distribution.
    • Knowledge of test equipment, electrical devices, sensors, and troubleshooting using standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment.
    • Ability to communicate with contractors and specialist service providers who perform maintenance or upgrade work on critical data centre systems.
