Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time Consultant Clinical Scientist specializing in Virology, positioned at the esteemed Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. This role is integral to our Virology department, which delivers clinical services across multiple healthcare facilities. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of Consultant Virologists and Microbiologists, contributing to the enhancement of our cross-site Virology services.

Key Responsibilities

As a Consultant Clinical Scientist, you will be expected to:

  • Engage actively in the Virology Clinical service, including authorizing virology tests and addressing clinical inquiries.
  • Provide expert advice on clinical management, focusing on infection prevention and control.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Oversee cross-site management duties and maintain laboratory communication.
  • Mentor and train medical and clinical scientist trainees in diagnostic procedures.
  • Be part of the out-of-hours on-call rota, ensuring continuous service availability.
