Kimbolton, United Kingdom Dovetail and Slate Ltd Full time

Have you ever thought about a career in education within a correctional environment?

This role presents a remarkable chance to teach and support adult learners in their journey towards rehabilitation.

If you seek a distinctive and impactful role outside traditional teaching, where you can truly influence lives and enhance the future of learners, this opportunity may be ideal for you.

Working in a correctional facility poses unique challenges. In this setting, learners spend significant time away from their families, often grappling with the consequences of their past actions. Education serves as a vital tool for them, providing focus and hope.

By offering educational programs, we empower inmates to acquire new skills, thereby improving their chances of future employment and reducing the risk of reoffending. Many individuals enter the system lacking basic literacy and numeracy skills. Our educational framework ensures that all participants engage in Functional Skills training, paving the way for vocational courses in areas such as Carpentry, Bricklaying, Painting & Decorating, Plastering & Tiling, Industrial Cleaning, Barbering, Catering, and Horticulture.

Each correctional facility is equipped with dedicated educational departments, featuring classrooms and workshops conducive to teaching and learning. You will benefit from the support of a seasoned educational team, with opportunities for professional development.

Position Overview:

This is a full-time position for a Functional Skills Cover Tutor within the prison education sector.

  • Regularly evaluating learner progress to ensure that training remains relevant and effective.
  • Creating, implementing, and reviewing detailed lesson plans that address the educational needs of the group, including foundational literacy, numeracy, language skills, and other barriers to employment.
