About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team in Haematology and Blood Transfusion at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist, you will play a critical role in providing a high-quality service to our patients and users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a range of complex investigations to assist in the diagnosis of disease and monitoring of treatment.
  • Work in a rotational basis across Haematology, Coagulation, Blood Transfusion, and Immunohaematology sections.
  • Use manual, semi-automated, and automated techniques on highly specialized analytical equipment.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new procedures and protocols.
  • Provide training and support to Practitioner BMS staff.
Requirements
  • Current HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • Substantial post-registration experience in a UK Pathology service Haematology/Blood Transfusion laboratory.
  • Specialist portfolio and/or MSc.
  • Ability to work to appropriate standards of competency in all sections and maintain those skills through rotation.
  • IT skills appropriate to the department.
