About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Nurse to join our dynamic team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our Epilepsy Team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality clinical care to children and young people with epilepsy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as a specialist nurse within an established multi-professional team caring for children and young people with epilepsy.
  • Support complex inpatient care and facilitate discharge plans for the patient group.
  • Support nurse-led and multi-professional outpatient clinics.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following skills and experience:

  • Current 1st level NMC Registration - RSCN or RN (child qualified)
  • First level health-related degree or already working towards this
  • Recognized Teaching/Assessing qualification
  • Evidence of ongoing continual professional development within the specialty area
Desirable Qualifications and Experience

We would welcome applications from candidates with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Experience in epilepsy
  • Master's Degree in child health related studies
  • Non-Medical Prescribing course
  • Leadership qualification
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Training or commitment to undertake
  • Counselling qualification
  • Assessing and Mentoring Training
Communication and Relationship Skills

We are looking for a candidate with excellent communication and relationship skills, including:

  • Ability to work as a member of the Multidisciplinary Team: collaborating with, negotiating with and influencing the work of others across a range of disciplines and on own initiative
  • Excellent oral and written communicator including report writing and presentational skills and conveying sensitive information to others in an empathetic manner
  • Able to articulate, discuss/receive relevant clinical information to/from a multi-professional audience including highly complex information and implement plans for development and change
  • Able to maintain accurate, timely written/electronic patient records and documents
  • IT skills - ability to operate data systems and Microsoft Office
Planning and Organization Skills

We are looking for a candidate with excellent planning and organization skills, including:

  • Ability to work without supervision, using good organizational, time management skills and effective resource management
  • Ability to prioritize a complex caseload and act quickly to emergency and urgent situations within an unpredictable work environment
