Research Portfolio Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fund Research Manager to join our team at North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Trust.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expertise in the overall set-up, governance, and management of all sponsored research. This will include reviewing and advising on studies presented to feasibility for review, identifying the need for service level agreements and any governance issues related to setting up the study.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct feasibility assessments of new sponsored studies, providing and receiving complex and sensitive research information, identifying risks and obstacles to the successful set-up and delivery of each new study.
- Communicate with internal and external research stakeholders, including pharmaceutical companies, clinical research networks, senior clinical researchers, and R&D staff, regarding setting up research projects.
- Provide specialist UK and EU regulatory knowledge across a range of procedures, underpinned by regulatory knowledge, providing the knowledge of research regulations, including ICH-GCP, Research Governance Framework.
- Advise researchers on submission and application procedures to Research Ethics Committees, National Institute Health Research Portfolio, Confidentiality Advisory Group, Health Research Authority, and other research sites.
- Support the activities of the R&D Director and R&D Lead, deputising in their absence.
Requirements:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience through a combination of both employment and training.
- Evidence of continued research/professional development.
- Knowledge of research regulatory issues governing the conduct of clinical research, including UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research, Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations, Mental Capacity Act, Adults with Incapacity Act, Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP), HRA approval process.
- Use of research platforms such as EDGE/REDCAP.
- Experience of working on or setting up commercial and NIHR clinical trials/studies, including research feasibility and sponsorship processes.
