As a vital member of the commercial team, you will thrive in a dynamic environment, collaborating closely with the go-to-market team and cultivating robust relationships with our supplier partners. In your role as a category buyer, you will take charge of all supplier negotiations aligned with the category strategy.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to engage with some of the largest brands in cooking and white goods. You will play a key role in shaping the market strategy for the category and influencing critical market stakeholders. The category enjoys significant visibility within white goods, providing opportunities to present to senior-level stakeholders. This role has a proven track record of supporting buyers in advancing their careers and gaining valuable purchasing experience.
Key Responsibilities:
As part of your role, you will be responsible for:
- Managing supplier relationships in accordance with our overall commercial supplier strategy.
- Building credible partnerships with our suppliers.
- Collaborating with suppliers to gain insights into future technology developments.
- Negotiating product ranges, including pricing, additional terms, exclusivity, distribution, and stock availability.
- Securing favorable financial terms related to product ranging, promotional activities, and performance.
- Ensuring product differentiation from competitors through effective negotiations.
- Pricing the product range in alignment with agreed category targets.
- Coordinating with the returns team to establish supplier return agreements.
- Working with merchandising to optimize sales forecasting and stock turnover.
- Developing capable and committed team members.
Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Experience in buying within a fast-paced FMCG, fashion, or hard goods retail environment.
- Familiarity with the electrical market and its products.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage supplier partnerships effectively.
- Excellent numerical and analytical abilities.
- A customer-centric approach with a keen understanding of customer needs and commercial awareness.
