Job Title: Apprenticeship Served Mechanical Inspector

Morson Talent is recruiting on behalf of a leading defence equipment manufacturer based in Bolton, Greater Manchester for an apprenticeship served mechanical inspector. This is a contract role, although highly likely to be long-term.

Security Clearance:

In order to be considered for this opportunity, you will need to be eligible for SC (Secret Level) UK Security Clearance. Both the role and client site have ITAR nationality restrictions.

Responsibilities:
  1. Certify products in line with the product certification procedure.
  2. Examine products for correct assembly.
  3. Inspect the finish of all parts to detect faulty finishing or painting, deterioration of surfaces, etc.
  4. Inspect for physical damage.
  5. Perform intermediate inspection checks for non-product certification.
  6. Monitor product certification operators.
  7. Check and complete all paperwork associated with the manufacturing data pack.
  8. Control defect items via segregation from good product.
  9. Raise and maintain relevant data records/defect reports.
  10. Produce relevant inspection/quality control documentation/history sheets.
  11. Care for and use specialized inspection tools.
  12. Maintain product certification and approval via regular audits.
  13. Ensure compliance with all associated procedures applicable to the manufacturing process.
  14. Ensure inspection times are met.
  15. Possess a versatile skill base with the capability to apply these skills across a range of tasks.
  16. Maintain to the highest level, workmanship standards and product quality.
  17. Maintain a safe working environment.
  18. Maintain a good housekeeping policy.
  19. Contribute to an environment of process improvement.
Requirements:
  • Formal technical engineering/craft apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3/TR23/TR21 or HNC.
  • Significant prior mechanical inspection experience.
  • Several years' experience as a skilled person.
  • IPC 610 certified/trained preferred.
