Job Overview
1. We are seeking three dedicated Medical Laboratory Assistants, including two full-time positions (37.5 hours per week) and one part-time position (22.5 hours per week) for our Central Specimen Reception Department.
This department operates around the clock, and the successful candidates will be expected to engage in a shift system covering early, late, weekend, and holiday schedules. Night shifts may also be part of the role.
The positions will primarily be based at a major hospital, but candidates should be prepared for cross-site responsibilities, potentially working at various locations within our pathology network.
Our laboratories are accredited by UKAS and HCPC, and we pride ourselves on our commitment to ongoing professional development, reflected in our outstanding training programs.
Main Responsibilities
The role involves a variety of tasks, with our team of Medical Laboratory Assistants rotating through different responsibilities.
The post holders will collaborate as part of a team to receive, sort, log, and distribute specimens within the pathology department. Key responsibilities include receiving specimens, entering data into laboratory information systems, preparing specimens as needed, and organizing them for processing.
We are looking for individuals who demonstrate a positive attitude, flexibility, and the ability to maintain accuracy under pressure to meet deadlines. Attention to detail is crucial for this position.
Successful candidates must be able to adhere to written protocols and work independently with minimal supervision.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should possess GCSEs in English, Maths, and Science at grades A-C. Previous experience in the NHS or a laboratory environment is advantageous.
