Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive news strategy that aligns with the company's overall goals and objectives
  • Lead and manage a team of journalists, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of exceptional content
  • Collaborate with the Head of Programming to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and partners
  • Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of news content to our audience, including hourly bulletins received by over 400 radio stations
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the news industry and emerging trends, making recommendations to the leadership team to stay ahead of the curve


Requirements:

  • At least five years of experience in a radio newsroom, with a proven track record of success in a leadership role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of the role and its requirements, including the need to work flexible hours and travel as required
  • Legal right to work in the UK and a full UK driving licence
