We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our therapy team at Woking and Sam Beare Hospices. As a Palliative Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering and developing high-quality care services for individuals with progressive and life-limiting conditions in North West Surrey.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized care to patients with life-limiting illnesses, focusing on their physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Manage a complex patient caseload, conducting specialized OT assessments and interventions to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Efficiently manage time and prioritize tasks among community, inpatient, and wellbeing services, ensuring seamless care delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to assess needs, plan treatment, set goals, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and development of the Therapies Service, driving continuous improvement and excellence in care.

Person Specification

Experience

  • Significant clinical experience across various settings, including respiratory, oncology, neurology, and orthopedics.
  • Experience at Band 6 level and in a community setting, with a strong understanding of palliative care principles.
  • Experience in Service Development and working within multidisciplinary teams, with a focus on patient-centered care.
  • Supervisory experience of junior staff, with a track record of mentoring and supporting team members.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy with a minimum of 5 years post-registration experience.
  • Current HCPC registration and membership of RCOT, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Further study or experience in long-term conditions or palliative care, with a strong understanding of the complexities of palliative care.
  • Leadership and communication skills training, with a focus on effective collaboration and team leadership.
