Job Title: Protection Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Protection Systems Engineer to join our team at Clancy. As a key member of our design team, you will play a vital role in the delivery of substation plant, equipment, and protection systems across various electrical infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess client project requirements and produce detailed plant and equipment specifications.
  • Create system designs ensuring compliance with applicable specifications and tender documentation.
  • Assist with tendering activities and provide technical guidance for proposed schemes.
  • Prepare site layouts and schematics for multi-staged substation construction projects.
  • Manage external plant and equipment manufacturers, design consultants, and oversee design outputs.
  • Liaise with internal and external design teams, clients, manufacturers, and consultancies to produce accurate designs within timescales.
  • Produce detailed electrical control and protection schematic drawings for large electrical infrastructure schemes.
  • Produce electro-technical drawings, plant and material procurement lists, and wiring diagrams for control and protection systems.
  • Prepare functional specifications and provide advice on procurement of plant and equipment.
Requirements:
  • Possess a proficient understanding of electricity industry and regulatory standards.
  • A good understanding of electrical plant, transformer, protection, relays, and control disciplines.
  • Strong electrical knowledge within the contestable and non-contestable connections sides of the market.
  • Ability to take a brief scope of works and assist in producing a detailed design based on appropriate standards.
  • Candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent.
