Clinical Psychologist

We are seeking an experienced Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist to join our team at The Spinney Hospital in Atherton, Manchester. As a key member of our Psychology department, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our patients and contribute to the development of our services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist psychological assessments, formulations, and interventions for individuals with complex mental health needs.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary risk management, care planning, and decision-making to promote psychological wellbeing.
- Communicate complex information to colleagues, patients, carers, and other professionals to support psychological wellbeing and risk assessments.
- Support and promote open cultures within teams and services.
- Manage a complex caseload as a ward Psychologist, facilitating group interventions and monitoring clinical progress.
- Provide high-quality clinical supervision to assistant psychologists and trainees.
- Support staff development through training, consultation, and reflective practice sessions.
- Contribute to service developments within the Psychology team and wider service.
- Postgraduate/Doctorate level qualification in Clinical, Forensic, or Counselling Psychology.
- Current registration with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist.
- Knowledge and experience of specialist assessment, formulation, and treatment of complex mental health difficulties.
- Knowledge of risk assessment and management.
- Experience of engaging vulnerable individuals with complex needs and managing uncertainty and risk situations.
- Post-qualification training in therapeutic models relevant for working with individuals with mental health difficulties in forensic services.
- Experience of supervising psychology and healthcare colleagues.
- Experience of facilitating reflective practice.
The Spinney Hospital is a medium and low secure service, a rehabilitation service, and a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). We offer care and support for men aged 18 years and older with mental health difficulties. Our team is committed to providing high-quality care and promoting psychological wellbeing.
