We are excited to announce a new opportunity within our social care division for the role of Designated Social Care Officer (DSCO). This position is pivotal in our newly established framework, working under the supervision of the Disabled Children's Team (DCT) manager and collaborating closely with our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) colleagues.
Bath and North East Somerset Children's Social Care is recognized for its innovative approach as a small Local Authority, dedicated to therapeutic assessments and support. We have been rated 'Good' by OFSTED and are committed to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will spearhead the development of social care components within the SEND strategy and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This role will facilitate closer collaboration between social care and SEND personnel, providing expert guidance on SEND matters within the social care framework. The DSCO will play a crucial role in fostering inter-service cooperation to enhance outcomes for children receiving social care with SEND support.
The individual must possess the ability to influence stakeholders, cultivate and maintain effective relationships, and work collaboratively with a diverse range of partners in the local community. This role will be integrated within the Disabled Children's Team, where you will be part of a supportive management group responsible for delivering social work services to disabled children, their families, and their extended networks.

Qualifications Required:
- A relevant qualification in social work
- A minimum of 2 years of social work experience

- Understanding of relevant theories and practices in social work
- Proficient IT skills for operating standard electronic systems
- Strong emotional intelligence
- A genuine passion and commitment to supporting vulnerable families in our community
