About the Role

Magna International Inc. is a leading global automotive supplier, and our Magna Advanced Automation (MAA) unit is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to join our team in Telford, UK.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating complex CNC programs for both 3-axis and 5-axis machining centers, ensuring high precision and efficiency. This role requires a self-driven and detail-oriented professional with a proven track record in maximising efficiency and precision in manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Utilize PowerMill software to create complex CNC programs for machining operations, ensuring high precision and efficiency.
  2. Independently program, set up, and operate CNC machines, achieving high-quality output with minimal supervision.
  3. Develop and optimize CNC programs to reduce cycle times and improve tool life, resulting in increased productivity.
  4. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure seamless integration of CNC programs into the manufacturing process.
  5. Program and operate CNC machines, including Okuma, Elgamill, and DMG Doosan.
  6. Responsible for 5-axis online and offline programming and operation.
  7. Operate Fidia/Heidenhain/Fanuc control units and download programs to the control unit.
  8. Set up machines and select the right tools to run programs for brand new parts.
Requirements
  1. Previous experience in a similar role, specifically on 5-axis machines.
  2. Proficient in PowerMill software for advanced CNC programming.
  3. Expert in programming for both 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machining.
  4. Excellent understanding of G-code and M-code programming.
  5. Good understanding of and experience using 2D & 3D engineering drawings.
  6. Working technical knowledge of modern tool room processes and techniques, including CAD/CAM.
  7. Flexibility to travel within Europe and beyond.
  8. Effective communication skills in English.
  9. Overhead crane experience preferred.
  10. Stamping tools, casting tools, injection moulding tools experience is desirable.
Preferred Qualifications

City and Guilds qualification and at least 5 years post-apprenticeship experience in a machine shop.
