Key Responsibilities

This role is ideally suited for therapists who have successfully completed their Newly Qualified Practitioner framework and are looking to engage in flexible working arrangements within our team. You will receive guidance from senior professionals with advanced expertise in areas such as stroke rehabilitation, voice therapy, fluency disorders, swallowing difficulties, and aphasia.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification leading to a license to practice
  • Membership with the RCSLT
  • Registration with the HCPC

Desirable

  • Additional relevant qualifications in areas such as postgraduate dysphagia

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of a broad spectrum of communication disorders
  • Basic IT proficiency
  • Ability to demonstrate theoretical knowledge relevant to the role
  • Capacity for reflective practice during supervision
  • Aptitude for identifying personal learning needs and engaging in self-directed study

Desirable

  • Familiarity with dysphagia
  • Knowledge of various assessment tools
  • Awareness of NHS initiatives
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection regulations
  • Knowledge of RCSLT guidelines

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working within speech and language therapy services with a diverse client base during undergraduate training
  • Familiarity with caseload management strategies
  • Experience collaborating within multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams
  • Proven ability to handle challenging situations effectively

Desirable

  • Training or experience in presentation skills
  • Experience working with individuals with communication disabilities
  • Proficiency in report writing
  • Experience utilizing a variety of assessment and intervention techniques
