Tunbridge Wells, Kent, United Kingdom Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust Full time

Position Overview

Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is dedicated to providing exceptional maternity services to a diverse population, supporting over 6000 women and families annually. Our facilities are designed to empower women with choices regarding their birthing experience.

Our maternity offerings include two Midwifery Led Birth Centres, catering to women with low-risk pregnancies, alongside comprehensive midwifery and obstetric care at our main hospital for both low and high-risk cases. We pride ourselves on delivering personalized care, ensuring a 1:1 support ratio for all women during their birthing journey, regardless of the setting—be it Home Birth, Midwifery Led, or Obstetric Led Departments.

Recognized for our innovative practices, we have received multiple nominations for RCM awards and are internationally acknowledged for our research in 'Kangaroo Care', enhancing the well-being of transitional care infants.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for both Part-time and Full-time Band 2 Perinatal Care Assistants to join our Maternity inpatient Services. We also offer apprenticeship opportunities for those with limited healthcare experience or qualifications.

The Band 2 role involves rotation through Antenatal, Postnatal, and Delivery Suite Units, assisting midwifery staff in delivering safe maternity care and equipping new parents with essential skills to care for their newborns.

Multiple vacancies are available, and we aim to transition Band 2 Perinatal Care Assistants into the Level 3 apprenticeship program upon starting their employment. Our maternity services operate 24/7, 365 days a year, requiring flexibility to cover a mix of weekday, night, and weekend shifts, including Bank and Public Holidays.

We provide tailored training sessions in addition to the Trust's standard training, including specialized breastfeeding training to help us achieve BFI level 3 accreditation.

If you are a Clinical Support Worker seeking experience in maternity services or an experienced Clinical or Perinatal Care Assistant interested in joining a supportive team, we welcome your interest.
