POSITION SUMMARY

As a Lead Tax Consultant within the Corporate Tax Division, you will report directly to the Tax Manager, managing UK tax operations. Your key responsibilities will include the timely preparation of UK corporation tax submissions, ensuring compliance, and supporting international tax filings. Exceptional communication skills are vital due to regular collaboration with global colleagues. You will also require strong project management abilities and adaptability to meet deadlines while accommodating the schedules of non-tax professionals. A high degree of self-motivation and independence is essential, along with supervisory duties for the Corporate Tax Assistant.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • UK corporate tax compliance and advisory services:
    • Preparation of corporation tax and deferred tax figures for inclusion in the UK statutory accounts;
    • Completion of UK corporation tax returns and computations for the group, including claims for double tax relief, rollover/holdover, group relief, patent box, and research and development, as well as corporate interest restriction calculations;
    • Preparation of corporation tax returns for overseas UK branches and coordination with advisors as necessary;
    • Collaboration with the broader Tax, Finance, and Commercial teams to advise on the structuring and implications of commercial transactions, including cross-border activities;
    • Provide guidance on UK tax implications related to potential mergers and acquisitions and restructuring efforts;
    • Assist with inquiries and audits from HMRC as required;
    • Engage with external providers on UK tax compliance and advisory matters.
  • VAT Management:
    • Support the maintenance of the UK VAT group, oversee the monthly VAT return process, and serve as a point of contact for VAT-related inquiries.
  • Corporate Tax Administration:
    • Prepare estimates to support quarterly instalment payments, including calculations and arrangements for reallocating or repaying overpayments.
    • Manage the UK group's tax administration processes.
  • Work alongside the Tax Manager to ensure effective internal controls are established and proactively identify solutions to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
  • US GAAP Reporting:
    • Assist the Finance team with quarterly and annual US GAAP tax reporting requirements.
  • Draft correspondence with HMRC as needed.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff members.
  • Support the Tax Manager with additional tasks relevant to this role as they arise.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Qualified CA/CTA (mandatory)
  • Strong technical expertise in UK corporate tax (mandatory)
  • Prior experience in a multi-jurisdictional company or an accounting firm dealing with cross-border tax issues (mandatory)
  • Knowledge of UK VAT (preferred)
  • Familiarity with tax software, specifically Onesource (preferred)
