SEN Teaching Assistant Job Overview

EdEx is seeking a dedicated and passionate Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at an Outstanding Primary school in Southwark. As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and/or disabilities in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to class teachers within the classroom, assisting with lesson planning and delivery
  • Assist children with SEN/SEN needs 1:1 and in small groups, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development
  • Support pupils in and out of lessons, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Monitor and record interventions, contributing to the development of individualized education plans

Requirements:

  • A hardworking graduate with strong academics and a passion for learning
  • Previous experience working with children and SEN/SEN needs, with a focus on developing emotional resilience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, teachers, and parents
  • Experience working with Non-Verbal children and previous experience working 1:1
  • Someone resilient and able to overcome challenges, with a strong commitment to supporting children with SEN/SEN needs
