Food Safety Technical Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Food Safety Technical Assistant to join our team at James Gray Associates. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading our food safety initiatives and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Maintain Food Safety Protocols: Create and implement effective food safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and Document Food Safety Practices: Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards are met.
  • Conduct Routine Inspections/Audits: Inspect the bakery to ensure compliance with food safety standards and identify areas for improvement.
  • Train Staff on Food Safety Practices: Provide training and guidance to staff on food safety practices and procedures.
  • Manage Raw Material and Supplier Approval System: Oversee the approval process for raw materials and suppliers to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Investigate Non-Compliance: Investigate any non-compliance issues with raw materials and suppliers and escalate serious concerns.
  • Collect and Analyze Samples: Collect and analyze samples for microbiological and chemical testing to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Lead on Product Testing and Sampling: Lead on product testing and sampling schedule and support the investigation of any out-of-specification results.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Implement HACCP and SALSA: Implement and maintain HACCP and SALSA food safety management systems.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Regulations: Stay up-to-date with changes in food safety regulations and standards.
  • Provide Technical Information: Provide technical information to customers and support the NPD team with shelf life validation testing and analysis.

Requirements:

  • Food Science Degree: Must hold a degree in Food Science.
  • Experience in Food Manufacturing: Must have experience in food manufacturing, preferably in frozen and ambient products.
