Position Overview

Role: Visual Impairment Rehabilitation Officer

This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the Adult Deaf and Visual Impairment Service (ADVIS), a collaborative team comprising Social Workers, Visual Impairment Rehabilitation Officers, Enablement Officers, and specialized Promoting Independence Workers for Deaf BSL users and individuals with dual sensory impairments.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Exhibit enthusiasm, motivation, and organizational skills in delivering high-quality services.
  • Effectively communicate with clients, their caregivers, and other professionals.
  • Conduct specialized assessments to determine the rehabilitation needs of individuals with visual impairments and/or dual sensory impairments, while also considering the needs of their caregivers.
Service Goals

The primary objective of our service is to empower individuals to maintain independence in their homes through tailored rehabilitation services.

Work Environment

ADVIS operates as a countywide service, offering a hybrid working model that allows for both remote and office-based work across the region. The position includes a casual user car allowance or taxi service for employees with disabilities. A full driving license and access to a vehicle are required, except in cases where a disability prevents this.

Training and Induction

The selected candidate will receive a thorough induction into this specialized role, along with comprehensive training to support their development.
