Strategic Partnerships Manager

Teddington, Greater London, United Kingdom National Physical Laboratory Full time

About the Role

Who establishes the benchmarks to guarantee that all measurable aspects are executed with uniformity and dependability? We do. Through our essential research, the National Physical Laboratory is facilitating scientific and commercial advancements, international commerce, environmental stewardship, and public health. As a Strategic Partnerships Manager, you will assist both current and prospective clients in comprehending how our diverse array of products and services can create a significant impact. It's a rewarding experience. At NPL, we influence everyday lives in remarkable ways, and you could too. We recognize the exceptional nature of our offerings. Your role will involve mastering every detail about the product and service portfolio you will oversee and effectively communicating that knowledge. We do not engage in sales for the sake of selling. We listen attentively, then provide guidance and consultation to identify the optimal solution. This level of customer-centricity and trusted advice is what drives sales and growth. Additionally, you will serve as an advocate for the Bid Governance process. Regardless of your focus, you will monitor your progress and ensure that you exemplify best practices in managing client relationships. Thanks to the connections you cultivate, even more individuals across the UK, and potentially globally, will benefit from your contributions.

We are currently adopting a hybrid working model, combining remote and office-based work. We are committed to promoting a healthy work-life balance—whether you seek full-time, part-time, or flexible arrangements, we will strive to accommodate your needs where feasible. This will depend on the specific role and the business unit you are part of. About You

In essence, we establish the criteria by which everything is evaluated. By doing so, the National Physical Laboratory is directly assisting innovators and industry leaders in making groundbreaking discoveries, embracing novel technologies, and scaling manufacturing processes for economic benefit, productivity, and national prosperity.

The Business Development team is at the heart of NPL's operations. As we continue to explore innovative applications for our work, the potential for growth is evident.

As a Strategic Partnerships Manager, you will encounter remarkable opportunities to engage with and advise industry-leading clients. You will quickly become proficient in our products and capabilities that have positioned NPL as a pioneer in the advanced manufacturing sector.

It is about grasping our mission, understanding potential customers' requirements, and identifying how we can align our offerings in a mutually advantageous manner. Excitingly, you will have the chance to support proposals, tenders, and bids. You will also concentrate on fostering relationships—both externally and internally—ensuring that every opportunity is thoroughly explored.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

Client Engagement: nurturing relationships with our existing and potential clients through various communication channels. We aim for customers to feel enthusiastic and confident about our products and services. Lead Qualification: Assess and qualify incoming leads by evaluating the prospect's needs, determining the opportunity's viability, and arranging follow-up discussions. Relationship Building: cultivate and enhance customer relationships by promoting a strong connection to the NPL brand, including our vision, business model, and collaborative sales approach. Sales Pipeline Management: Develop and maintain a sales pipeline, achieving both personal and team monthly performance targets in alignment with broader team strategies. Participation: Engage in company meetings and customer events. Industry Mastery: Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, including the use of new technologies and resources.

We need our clients to feel assured that they are in capable hands. Therefore, you should possess a background in Account Management or Business Development Management, preferably within a scientific context. However, if you have a genuine enthusiasm for research in any of our core areas, we will support your development. Equally important are your customer orientation, business insight, organizational, communication, and influencing abilities. Beyond that, we seek someone who will thrive in our environment. At NPL, we learn from one another, respect each other, and collaborate to improve outcomes for ourselves and our clients. While we are always eager to expand our knowledge, we strive to keep processes straightforward when complexity is unnecessary. Together, we are making a significant impact on economic prosperity and quality of life.
