Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Rehabilitation Psychiatry and Adult Psychiatry to join our team at Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust.

About the Role

The post holder will be responsible for providing clinical care to inpatients of working age and medical leadership to the inpatient ward teams. They will work with the Home-Based Treatment Team and Care Coordinators from the three Community Mental Health Teams in Salford to facilitate discharge and provide an alternative to inpatient admission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide management in treatment-resistant and complex presentations
  • Assess and manage risk, including vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety, and risk of harm to others
  • Prepare Mental Health Review Tribunal and Managers' Hearings reports and attend subsequent hearings
  • Work in partnership with psychiatrists from partner providers, such as Forensic and Rehabilitation Psychiatrists
Leadership Role

The post holder will lead clinical decision-making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care. They will develop service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards.

Educational Role

The post holder will provide clinical supervision for trainees in gaining core psychiatric experience and achieving competencies in core general psychiatry.

Person Specification
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice at the time of appointment
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months
  • Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 or able to achieve within three months of appointment
Skills
  • Excellent clinical skills using a bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
