About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our team at St Mary's Catholic Primary School. As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the teaching staff and pupils in achieving their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the teaching staff in the classroom, providing individualized attention to pupils and assisting with lesson planning and delivery.
  • Assist with the management of pupils' personal needs, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, and welfare matters.
  • Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.
  • Supervise and support pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
  • Contribute to the overall Catholic ethos and work of the school.
  • Prepare the classroom as directed for lessons and clear afterwards, and assist with the display of pupils' work.
  • Support pupils in using basic ICT as directed.
  • Support the teacher in managing pupil behavior, reporting difficulties as appropriate.
  • Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips, and out-of-school activities as required.
Requirements
  • Experience of working with children of relevant age.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Appropriate knowledge of first aid.
  • Knowledge of basic technology - computer, video, photocopier.
  • The ability to relate well to children and adults.
  • The ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these.
