We also provide adaptable working options, combining office presence with remote work opportunities, suitable for both full-time and part-time candidates.

This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months, with the potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities

Project Oversight: Manage the Joint Operations Centre initiative, ensuring it is delivered on time and within budget while effectively handling risks and security concerns.

Financial Planning: Formulate and negotiate a funding strategy with regulatory bodies, securing substantial financial resources and preparing a detailed business proposal.

Procurement Strategy: Ensure that procurement processes comply with security protocols and long-term sustainability goals.

Financial Oversight: Supervise project expenditures and proactively manage risks, implementing recovery strategies as needed.

Performance Evaluation: Monitor and report on project progress, ensuring that all anticipated benefits from the business case are realized.

Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with a history of influencing senior stakeholders. A degree-level education or equivalent professional credentials.

Benefits

A competitive salary of approximately £90,000 – based on qualifications and experience.

12 months fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension

In addition to the base salary, a performance-based bonus will be provided, along with 28 days of annual leave and a competitive pension scheme with generous employer contributions.

About National Grid

Transitioning to the National Energy System Operator

In the near future, the ESO will evolve into the National Energy System Operator (NESO), taking on the responsibility for planning Great Britain's electricity and gas networks and managing the electricity system.

The ESO will retain its core functions while significantly enhancing its capabilities to meet the needs of the energy system and its users. This transformation will allow us to consider various energy vectors, including electricity, natural gas, and hydrogen, while evaluating the trade-offs involved.

NESO will operate as a public corporation with an independent board, ensuring operational autonomy from government and commercial interests. Like the ESO today, NESO will be regulated by Ofgem, focusing on sustainable, affordable, and secure solutions for system operations and planning.

Join us in shaping the future of energy in Great Britain.

Commitment to Diversity

We strive to uphold the highest standards in all our endeavors, including how we support and develop our employees. We are dedicated to fostering a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve, ensuring that every individual feels valued and respected.

We welcome applicants from various backgrounds and experiences, providing tailored support to help everyone reach their full potential.
