Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Community Café Team Member. As a key member of our front of house team, you will play a vital role in launching and developing our community cafés, providing exceptional customer service, and promoting our charitable work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Café Operations: Assist in maximizing food and beverage sales, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and restocking the café.
  • Community Engagement: Collect customer feedback, ensure it is shared with the community café manager, and provide a positive and supportive experience for customers.
  • Customer Service: Ensure customers have a good café experience, address customer queries and complaints in a proactive and friendly manner, and respond to access needs.
  • Volunteer Support: Provide support for Hillside volunteers within the café and ensure they have a positive workplace experience.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure a good understanding of health and safety policy and procedures in the café and follow them.
  • Safeguarding: Be aware of safeguarding policy and procedures and raise any concerns with the safeguarding lead.
  • General: Promote Hillside's wider charitable work and follow policies and procedures throughout your work.

Person Specification

  • Experience in the hospitality industry (training provided)
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work under your own initiative and within a team
  • Friendly and approachable attitude with an interest in challenging stigma associated with mental ill health
