Chambers Waste Group Plc is a well-established, reputable organization that specializes in providing waste management and recycling services. Our state-of-the-art recycling center and purpose-built head office are based in Guildford, while our Runfold site in Farnham recycles and sells aggregates to the construction sector.

Your new role

This key position, based across both the Guildford and Farnham sites, will see you take responsibility for running the finance department on a day-to-day basis, reporting to the Finance Director. You will be accountable for delivering timely, high-quality management accounting for both Chambers Waste and Chambers Runfold. In addition, you will lead, support, and develop a team of 8 who handle accounting for the business, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, billing, and accounts preparation to trial balance.

The management accounts you produce will be crucial for the Directors to make informed commercial decisions and will include a summary with P&L, cost center reports, variances to prior year, and statistical business reports/analysis. You will utilize Sage 200 and Excel on a daily basis, alongside bespoke systems used in Operations.

During the month, you will partner closely with the FD to identify and spot areas of commercial risk and opportunity and work to continuously evolve and improve processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver timely and high-quality management accounting for both Chambers Waste and Chambers Runfold
  • Lead, support, and develop a team of 8 accountants
  • Produce management accounts, including P&L, cost center reports, and statistical business reports/analysis
  • Partner with the FD to identify and mitigate commercial risk and opportunity

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in management accounting and working in an SME, family-run environment
  • Comfortable with hands-on work and managing the finance department on a day-to-day basis
  • Prior team leadership experience is essential for success
  • Based locally, with access to transport, and willing to travel 1-2 days a week to the Farnham site
