Facilities Maintenance Manager: Correctional Institution

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter Supervisor to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a key member of our Building and Grounds department, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of our facilities, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate the work of inmate workers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of facilities.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance throughout the institution, including maintenance, repair, construction, and replacement of components.
- Manage inventory through planning and purchasing, and respond to work requests in a timely manner.
- Assist in other areas of the Building and Grounds department, including preventative maintenance, construction projects, equipment repair, electrical, welding, plumbing, electronics, or outside maintenance.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of all aspects of carpentry, building construction, masonry, tools, blueprints, materials, and measurements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise the work of others.
- Ability to estimate materials and cost.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Training, certification, or license in related trades.
- Commercial Driver's License.
- Additional experience in any of the following: Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Vehicle or Equipment Repair, Locksmith, Painting, and Electronics.
- Correctional experience.
- Skills in the use of tools of the trade.
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Programs and Outlook or preventative maintenance programs.
This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines and changing priorities. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
