Experienced Learning Support Assistant Required for SEMH Provision

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our specialist provision at a purpose-built special school in Harlow. Our school offers a nurturing and inclusive environment for sixty-four pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, with residential provision for fifteen pupils.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide targeted support to secondary school students with SEMH needs, promoting their social, emotional, and academic well-being.
  • Deliver evidence-based reading interventions to improve literacy skills and enhance student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to develop and implement individual education plans, ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to the teaching team and contributing to the development of effective strategies to support students with SEMH needs.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience working with secondary school students with SEMH needs, with a strong understanding of the complexities of SEMH and the strategies required to support students with these needs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in delivering reading interventions, with a focus on improving literacy skills and enhancing student outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff, external professionals, and students with SEMH needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional training in literacy interventions, with a focus on evidence-based practices and strategies to support students with SEMH needs.
Working Conditions:
  • Full-time position with standard school hours, working primarily within a secondary school setting.
