Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a special needs school in Harlow. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in helping a child with complex needs thrive in their learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one support to a student with complex learning needs, ensuring their engagement in learning activities.
  • Assist in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the student's specific needs.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support the student with daily routines, including personal care if required.
  • Monitor the student's progress and communicate regularly with teachers and parents.
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour in a calm and supportive manner, promoting positive interactions.
  • Ensure the student's well-being and safety at all times during school hours.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly in a 1:1 support capacity.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting students with complex needs.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, collaborating with teachers and support staff.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with staff, parents, and external professionals.
  • Experience in managing challenging behaviour in a calm and constructive manner.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant certificate, are desirable.
