We are seeking a highly skilled Transmission Network Designer to join our team at Virgin Media O2. As a key member of our network design team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing designs and low-level configurations for our mobile access and aggregation transport networks.
Key Responsibilities- Design and plan carrier-grade IP/MPLS transport networks, ensuring seamless integration with our radio equipment, access devices, and core networks.
- Collaborate with various providers of optical, microwave, Ethernet, and IP connectivity products to build IP connectivity solutions between radio equipment, access devices, and core transport networks.
- Develop and maintain high-level and low-level designs, scopes of work, and technical documentation for carrier-grade IP networks.
- Work closely with our test and trial teams to ensure that designs and configurations are suitable for wider deployment.
- Contribute to the development of migration strategies to facilitate smooth transitions between designs and configurations.
- Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of TCP, UDP, and main L3/L2 routing protocols.
- Experience in designing, planning, configuring, and testing carrier-grade IP/MPLS transport networks.
- Direct experience in defining IP Quality of Service configurations, including HQoS and traffic prioritization mechanisms at Ethernet and IP layers.
- Deep understanding and practical experience in defining IP addressing policies applicable to carrier-class networks.
- Direct experience in producing high-level and low-level designs and scopes of work for carrier-grade IP networks.
- Familiarity with transport design in mobile networks (Radio Access Network).
- Experience with synchronization techniques for mobile infrastructure, specifically PTP and Phase Sync.
- Familiarity with BT's MEAS and IPVPN backhaul products.
- Experience in designing mobile backhaul networks for Ericsson and Nokia Radio Access Networks.
- Experience in producing HLDs and LLDs for Transport IP Network elements, preferably related to Nokia, Juniper, and Ciena routing and switching environments.
