About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced professional to join our Highway Asset Intelligence Team as a Definitive Map Officer. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in processing applications for Definitive Map modification orders and public path orders, including those related to minor and major developments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pre-application advice and guidance to applicants and stakeholders
  • Process and draft Definitive Map modification orders and public path orders
  • Prepare and present cases for forwarding to the Planning Inspectorate
  • Resolve network anomalies using various order types
  • Assist in creating new path networks following quarry restorations or as part of an expanding cycling network

Requirements:

  • Knowledge and application of policy, legislation, and case law
  • Ability to negotiate, problem-solve, and think laterally
  • Confidence in defending decisions and resolving complex issues
  • Attention to detail and methodical approach
  • Understanding of modern and historic Ordnance Survey mapping, Parliamentary Inclosure Awards, and other historical documents
