Role Overview: The Commissioning Manager will be pivotal in guiding and developing a diverse team of commissioning engineers, ensuring the effective execution of our capital works program across a range of innovative construction projects within the water sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Design and Delivery teams, as well as contract partners, to ensure streamlined and efficient project execution through optimal allocation of commissioning resources.
  • Assign appropriate resources to individual projects, providing essential technical support and guidance to operational teams during the commissioning and project handover phases.
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships, addressing incidents in collaboration with the Project Manager and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Identify and manage risks that may affect the successful delivery of the Capital Programme, ensuring adherence to external regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Oversee the commissioning process, reviewing operational procedures and maintenance protocols while liaising with stakeholders across the supply chain and operational teams.
  • Foster technical and leadership development within your team, actively managing performance and promoting growth opportunities for team members.
  • Lead the commissioning team, instilling a positive and proactive culture through effective support and leadership.
  • Champion health and safety standards within the team, encouraging innovative ideas and fostering a safety-oriented environment.
  • Maintain the team's skills matrix, supporting continuous learning and development for the benefit of both individuals and the organization.
  • Contribute to problem-solving in complex scenarios where standard solutions may not apply, sharing insights and best practices with design teams.
  • Respond to stakeholder incidents promptly, ensuring root causes are identified and preventive measures are implemented.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Proven track record of successful project delivery.
  • Extensive experience in verifying plant processes and performance.
  • Expertise in plant acceptance on behalf of client organizations.
  • Familiarity with NEC Conditions of Contract.
  • Experience in supply chain management, focusing on financial, health and safety, output, and quality metrics.
  • Knowledge of risk management principles.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders to achieve project goals.
  • Strong planning and implementation capabilities.
  • Experience in managing high-performing teams and maximizing individual potential.
  • Solid process knowledge, applicable in various industries such as food and power.
  • Understanding of process automation.
  • Electrical competency, including relevant qualifications and the ability to interpret electrical schematics.
  • Strategic planning experience in commissioning processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate plant systems, engaging key stakeholders and managing delivery techniques.
