The Project Manager at WCS Group is responsible for the overall delivery of projects. This includes scoping, conceptual design, estimating, and preparation of internal quotation documentation, as well as project execution, start-up, and commissioning.

The successful candidate will support sales throughout the sales process, starting from the discovery phase and ending after customer-approved commissioning. They will also mentor Project Engineers and Senior Project Engineers on complex or larger projects and deputize for the Senior Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with WCS Group's Health, Safety, and Environmental Policies
  • Lead and coordinate stakeholders to adhere to engineering processes and the Team Performance Plan
  • Identify project stakeholders and confirm technical and contractual scoping
  • Ensure scope components are selected and sized adequately for the duty and process, mechanical, and electrical integration requirements are designed to meet the scope requirements
  • Clearly identify and communicate any assumptions, customer or other responsibilities, and exclusions outside the scope of the offer in the proposal document
  • Provide value-added, differential advantage in proposals focusing on decreasing the cost of operation, improving operating efficiency, minimizing Environmental, Health, and Safety issues, and enhancing customer competitive advantage
  • Initiate peer or internal management review of the proposal prior to submission according to engineering processes
  • Assist sales staff where required in the sales process and technical queries prior to closing the sale
  • Undertake Order Review to confirm technical compliance with the offer, deliverables timeframe compliance with the offer, commercial compliance with the offer, and contractual compliance with the offer
  • Write an order acknowledgement registering gaps from the Order Review and seek management/supervisory guidance on the appropriate action prior to submission to the customer
  • Organize a Project Kick-off meeting with the customer and sales person and introduce the Project Execution Plan (PEP) where appropriate according to engineering processes
  • Establish clear project design detail to meet requirements, incorporating any new information from the Kick-off meetings
  • Initiate and track progress of procurement of items and activities to meet scope, budget, and timeline requirements
  • Coordinate off-site assembly and testing where appropriate
  • Control and report progress of the project via regular reviews against scope milestones, expenditure v plan, and technical and contractual variations
  • Schedule and minute progress meetings with customers at key milestones and extraordinary events (changes to scope)
  • Prepare, schedule, and supervise site work (installation and commissioning) by subcontractors and internal WCS Group specialists, and coordinate WCS Group scope activity with out-of-scope activity owners
  • Capture success criteria during commissioning and handover
  • Produce handover documents according to engineering processes
  • Seek and share learning and continuous improvement
  • Actively participate in engineering and other WCS Group meetings
  • Assist with ISO audits
  • Deputize for the Engineering Manager
