Supportive Caregiver

Position Overview

Required Availability:

Candidates should be prepared to engage with clients during the hours of 8 am to 12 pm, as well as during peak times from 4 pm to 8 pm.

Responsibilities of Home Instead Caregivers include:

• Conducting visits of at least one hour within the client's residence.
• Assisting clients with personal hygiene routines.
• Administering or reminding clients about their medications.
• Performing light housekeeping tasks.
• Shopping and completing various errands.
• Providing companionship and emotional support.
• Preparing meals for clients.
• Supporting clients with nutrition and hydration needs.
• Communicating with Home Instead and maintaining daily records.
• Fostering strong relationships and connecting with clients on a personal level.

Required Qualifications

Home Instead caregivers receive training in the following areas:

• Personal hygiene assistance.
• Medication oversight.
• Basic life support techniques.
• Safe moving and handling practices.
• Food safety protocols.
• Awareness of dementia-related issues.
• Fire safety measures.
• Adult safeguarding principles.
• Commitment to achieving the Care Certificate.

• Participation in paid in-house training and online learning modules.
• Successful completion of a clear enhanced DBS check.
• Shadowing experienced caregivers during client visits.
• Access to personal transportation is essential – business insurance coverage is required.
