We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a highly regarded secondary school in Havant, Hampshire.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing support to students with a range of learning needs, working closely with classroom teachers, the SENCO, and other staff members to ensure all students can access the curriculum and engage fully in school life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) and learning difficulties in the classroom
  • Assisting students in engaging with lessons and promoting inclusion and participation
  • Delivering targeted support to individual students or small groups based on specific learning requirements
  • Aiding classroom teachers with lesson planning and general classroom management
  • Tracking and reporting on student progress to teachers and SENCO
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and fostering emotional wellbeing within the school environment
  • Contributing to the school's extracurricular activities and supporting wider school initiatives

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational or support role
  • A solid understanding of SEN and strategies for supporting students with learning difficulties
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude towards meeting students' individual needs
  • The ability to work collaboratively with teachers and follow guidance effectively
