Assistive Technology Specialist

Connect2Luton is pleased to announce an opportunity for an Assistive Technology Specialist on behalf of Luton Borough Council.
The role of the Assistive Technology Specialist within the Assistive Technology Solutions team is crucial for ensuring the well-being and protection of all residents living in shared accommodations.
This position involves not only managing warden call systems but also the installation of safety devices such as smoke detectors and heat sensors, as well as understanding network wiring frameworks. Strong communication skills are vital, as the individual will interact with contractors, management, and residents. Responsibilities will include scheduling contractor visits, overseeing budgets, and performing inventory checks to ensure sufficient supplies for installations.
While formal electrician qualifications are not required, candidates must have undergone training in electrical systems and possess hands-on experience in related fields.
As an Assistive Technology Specialist, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting warden call systems throughout the region using TyneTec technology, along with updating telecare devices that need replacement.
- Advising and assisting external contractors in the upkeep of Managed Access Systems at locations where these systems are implemented.
- Setting up and installing both hardware and software at all accessible sites, while maintaining an inventory of all resources for insurance and replacement purposes.
- Effectively utilizing a variety of technological tools, including testing equipment.
Required qualifications include:
- Proven experience with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Health and Safety training to facilitate site visits and inspections.
- A Level 2 National Vocational Qualification or equivalent in an electrical discipline.
- A Level 3 National Vocational Qualification or equivalent in an electrical discipline.
- Recent professional development and practical experience in applying training.
