We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Chemistry Laboratory Technician to join our team at South East Water. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for operating instrumentation, assisting with maintenance, and preparing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable water testing results.
Key Responsibilities- Operate instrumentation in accordance with our Management System to ensure accurate and reliable water testing results.
- Assist with the maintenance and operation of preparatory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Help to document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books to ensure accurate tracking of laboratory activities.
- Ensure data is accurately entered into our Laboratory Information Management System within set timeframes to maintain data integrity.
- Report and communicate with senior members of staff on any quality issues to ensure prompt resolution.
- Assist with the preparation of reagents and AQC's in accordance with company internal procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain good laboratory practice and housekeeping at all times to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
- Participate in the auditing of internal practices to ensure compliance with our Management System.
- Contribute to key tasks within the chemistry section to support the delivery of high-quality water testing results.
- Achieve deadlines and service level agreements with consistent outputs to meet customer expectations.
- Demonstrate task prioritization and flexibility to help us meet demand and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Plan and organize your time systematically to perform tasks successfully and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and practice of analytical quality control to ensure accurate and reliable water testing results.
- Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of Health, Safety, and Environmental issues and adhere to the relevant requirements relating to Chemistry and the Laboratory.
- Continue to develop your chemistry knowledge and other laboratory skills as required for the work undertaken and for career development.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry or another closely related subject.
- Excellent numeracy, literacy, computer literacy, and skills to engage in robust laboratory practice.
- A desire to learn and put into practice what you've learned.
- Keen to take responsibility for personal and career development to progress to the next level.
- This role will be based at our Laboratory in Farnborough, Hampshire.
