About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Teaching Assistant Apprentice. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in helping students with special educational needs achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students with learning challenges, including complex and multiple special educational needs, in various learning environments.
  • Assist class teachers with resource preparation, support learning, and promote the emotional development of individuals and groups of pupils.
  • Assess identified learners and track their progress according to the graduated approach in the Code of Practice.
  • Plan and deliver programmes of learning for small groups and individuals under the supervision of the SENDCo.
  • Mark students' work according to the Nobel marking policy.
  • Carry out learning walks and observations and provide feedback on identified students.
  • Supervise students attending early morning Literacy intervention and after-school PLT (homework) sessions.
  • Support lunchtime activities, including games club.
  • Support learners in a range of contexts, including lessons, withdrawal groups, and bespoke provision.
  • Support the SEND team in various provisions, including supervision of The Bridge, exam access arrangements, study lesson cover, trips, and visits.
  • Support SEND students with exam access arrangements, including prompting, reading, scribing, and invigilation.
  • Participate in and deliver specialist training for whole-school initiatives and specific vulnerable groups.
  • Supervise pupils during play and lunchtimes.
  • Complete records of learning outcomes following specific intervention delivery.
Essential Skills and Qualities
  • Able to show empathy when working with staff, children, and families.
  • Able to work as part of a team, building strong relationships with children, parents/carers, and colleagues.
Desired Skills and Qualities
  • Previous experience of working with children (not essential).
  • Achieved GCSE in English & Maths.
