About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estates Maintenance Technician to join our team at Reed Engineering. As an Estates Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general handyman maintenance, repairs, and ground maintenance tasks
  • Carry out basic plumbing and joinery tasks, including changing light bulbs
  • Paint and decorate buildings and equipment
  • Identify maintenance, repairs, and new jobs and assist in the planning of work with the Estates Manager
  • Conduct winter maintenance to ensure pathways around the site are safe
  • Lock and unlock buildings and grounds as required
  • Manage contractor site management and Estates tools and equipment
  • Manage monthly meter readings and data input
  • Conduct weekly fire systems tests and data input
  • Ensure fire escapes and routes are free of obstructions and all doors are unlocked daily
  • Assist the Estates Manager and Health & Safety Manager in dealing with fire and security alarms and evacuation events
  • Conduct monthly man-down alarm tests and data input
  • Comply with risk assessments and method statements
  • Hold key holder responsibility and respond to out-of-hours situations
  • Operate CCTV systems, monitor, and ensure site safety
  • Perform reactive maintenance tasks
  • Liaise with stock handlers to organize skip exchanges and collections
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly PPMs and checks, and record data
  • Schedule pressure washing of fences and grounds
  • Manage waste and perform specialist/general cleaning duties
  • Assist the Estates Manager with contract cleaning team management
  • Conduct site checks, compliance testing, and auditing tasks
  • Respond to site situations at short notice, which may be outside normal working hours

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in a maintenance or facility management role (ideally within manufacturing/engineering)
  • Sound practical skills and experience of using power tools
  • Proficient in using tools and equipment commonly used for maintenance tasks
  • Basic joinery and plumbing knowledge
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and manage time to meet deadlines
  • A full UK driving license
  • Fitness to work on feet, kneeling, lifting, and stretching, with occasional outdoor work
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good command of English with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills
  • Solutions-driven with a positive and proactive approach
  • Good IT skills, including knowledge of MS suite software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Flexible approach to occasional out-of-hours calls and/or weekend work
  • FLT Counterbalance certification
  • First aid at work qualification
  • Health and safety awareness certification
