Position Summary:

The Demand Planner I will play a key role in planning and controlling inventory levels of finished goods for warehouses and distribution centers to meet sales and distribution demand. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate inventory replenishment with strategic partners, analyzing inventory levels and positioning to ensure compliance.
  • Meet annual goals for inventory levels of finished goods products.
  • Project and minimize scrap exposure by identifying issues and proposing solutions.
  • Coordinate shipments to strategic partners, including drop shipments, replenishment, and lot management.
  • Monitor forecast and safety stock levels, adjusting accordingly.
  • Review stocking orders with strategic partners for product availability and scheduled ship dates.
  • Allocate shelf life products for shipment to ensure contract minimum dating requirements.
  • Develop and maintain inputs to computerized inventory management systems.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly/monthly status reports relating to backorders, reagent planning, and similar tasks.

Internal Networking/Key Relationships:

  • Key process-related stakeholders, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Distribution, Finance, Logistics, and Plant Operations.

Skills & Capabilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work well with diverse groups of people.
  • Courtesy and tact to ensure effective and efficient solutions.

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years of working knowledge of inventory management practices and procedures, material planning, and distribution systems.
  • Familiar with Demand Planning and the Sales and Operations Planning Process in a mixed distribution and direct-to-customer environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, or Economics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience working with products controlled by shelf life.
  • A minimum of 3 (three) years' experience in similar/preparatory work required.
  • Previous experience with computerized inventory and distribution management systems, preferably SAP.
  • Proficiency with computers, including spreadsheet, database, and word processing programs.

  • Travel 10-15% at times
