Battery Pack Design Placement Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Placement Student to join our team in Battery Pack Design, specializing in Engineering for our Accelera Business Segment in the UK. During your placement, you will gain hands-on experience in product development, working alongside mechanical, electrical, and thermal engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in product development, focusing on mechanical product design and development.
  • Develop an understanding of fundamental structural design, product development cycles, and designing in context.
  • Design components using CAD systems, prioritizing low-cost, design for manufacture, and assembly.
  • Document design principles and coordinate basic analysis on designs, including vibration, crash, thermal loading, and mechanical shock.
  • Gain insight into the product design and development of battery electric industry, with opportunities to see designs in action through component testing, system-level validation, and prototype builds.
  • First-hand experience of concept through to detail design, identifying potential failure modes and mitigating them through optimal design.

Requirements:

  • Studying for a technical degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Design, Thermal Design, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Keen interest in electrification and Li-ion batteries.
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, presentation, CAD systems, and report writing.
  • Willingness to challenge the norm and continuously seek improvements.
