About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Gateline Assistant at Exeter St Davids station. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, ensuring the smooth operation of the automatic ticket barriers, and maintaining a safe and secure environment for our customers.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver a high level of service to customers, responding to their queries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist in the day-to-day operation of the automatic ticket barriers, ensuring they are functioning correctly and efficiently.
- Ensure customer security and respond to customer enquiries in a timely and effective manner.
- Inspect and issue tickets, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Address customer needs in times of service disruption, providing clear and concise information and support.
- Ensure the professional appearance of the gateline area, clearing rubbish and maintaining customer walkways.
- Sell tickets via a mobile ticket machine and associated accountancy processes.
Requirements
- Ability to provide excellent customer service, remaining calm and composed in challenging situations.
- Respond, record, and react to safety issues that may compromise customer safety.
- Ability to manage customers requiring assistance, providing support and guidance as needed.
- Pro-actively communicate and liaise with customers, colleagues, and other business partners.
- A self-starter with a can-do attitude, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Confident decision-making skills, with the ability to work to strict procedures.
About the Location
Exeter St Davids is a busy station, managing up to 4 million customers per year. As a Gateline Assistant, you will be working in a fast-paced environment, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of the station.
Working Pattern
This role involves shift working, including weekends and bank holidays. The earliest start time is 05:45, and the latest finish time is 23:00.
Additional Information
Candidates successfully shortlisted will be invited to a competency-based interview. Upon appointment, the successful candidate will be required to meet the medical standards for the role, including a drugs and alcohol screen. A Basic DBS is also required.
