Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accredited Clinical Coder to join our team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our clinical coding team, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, complete, and consistent clinical coding within strict timescales.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coding and Data Management: Collect, collate, and code clinical information, highly complex in nature, covering a wide range of specialties. This may involve coding highly sensitive and emotionally distressing patient medical records.
  2. Productivity and Quality: Maintain own productivity by ensuring high-quality work is done by required timescales.
  3. Liaison and Communication: Liaise with line managers where necessary to confirm appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes where national guidance is unclear.
  4. Documentation and Quality Improvement: Regularly liaise with and update managers and senior colleagues regarding deficiencies and ambiguity in clinical documentation to facilitate discussions with the clinical teams and other departments to improve the clinical documentation provided for coding purposes.
  5. Data Quality and Governance: Raise data quality issues to the Coding Managers.
  6. Mentorship and Training: Act as a mentor to Coders and Trainees/Apprentices within the department.
  7. Team Collaboration: Attend and participate in team meetings to ensure knowledge and learning points are received and communicated.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position (37.5 hours) based at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with opportunity for hybrid working and flexibility with working times to support our employees with a healthy work-life balance.

Requirements:

As a successful candidate, you will have a proven track record of consistently achieving key performance objectives and producing high-quality work to tight deadlines. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
