Position Overview

As a pivotal member of our ENERGY division, you will play a crucial role as a Lead Civil & Structural Engineer, providing technical oversight, enhancing client relationships, and guiding junior engineers.

Your responsibilities will include collaborating with various disciplines within the Gas Team and engaging with clients, including gas network operators and construction firms. We seek individuals who can demonstrate proficiency in British Standards (Eurocodes) and UK Gas Industry Specifications, and who are on the path to becoming a Competent Design Authority (CDA).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engaging with clients to identify and cultivate new business opportunities.
  • Preparing comprehensive bid documentation to meet client expectations and deadlines.
  • Conducting site visits and delivering project reports and drawings that meet high-quality standards.
  • Mentoring and developing junior engineers, ensuring adherence to best practices and technical excellence.
  • Understanding the GL5/G17/G35 Approval & Appraisal process, requiring detailed design experience with IGEM and Gas Network codes.
Expected Outcomes:
  • Consistent delivery of high-quality work, with client feedback reflecting our commitment to excellence.
  • Sharing technical knowledge and skills with the team through educational initiatives and mentoring.
  • Developing annual activity plans for key clients, with monthly reviews.
  • Providing actionable recommendations for project management improvements and consultancy delivery.
  • Preparing presentations and reports as needed to support project delivery.
Qualifications and Expertise Required:
  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field.
  • Chartered Engineer status or progress towards it.
  • Experience in a technical leadership role with direct involvement in design processes.
  • Familiarity with British Standards and Highway Standards relevant to civil engineering in the UK onshore gas sector.
  • Experience with the UK Gas Industry Civil Engineering specifications is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers Technical Standards is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel as project needs arise.
