About the Role

Yourgene Health, a leading integrated technologies and services business, is seeking a skilled Scientist II to join our OEM team at Manchester Science Park. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, verifying, and validating in vitro diagnostic products and services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Scientific Expertise: Provide scientific input into the assessment and development of products and services, ensuring high-quality and timely execution of studies.
  2. Project Development: Contribute to all development phases of a project, considering the bigger picture and ensuring studies are planned and executed to high quality and in a timely fashion.
  3. Work Package Leadership: Lead planning, execution, and reporting of work packages for new products and services, summarizing large amounts of external data into report formats.
  4. Quality Control: Set Quality Control Specifications and design methods, creating, maintaining, and improving laboratory SOPs, as well as systems and process SOPs.
  5. Data Management: Generate data, ensuring integrity and organized data management, providing accurate and independent data interpretation, and building experience of systems-level thinking.
  6. Regulatory Compliance: Meet regulatory or other requirements, ensuring own work meets regulatory & quality requirements, including compliance to SOPs, documentation using lab books, study plans, study reports, and integrity of data.
  7. Laboratory Maintenance: Perform laboratory maintenance tasks such as lab maintenance, stock monitoring, goods in receiving, and cleaning.
Requirements
  1. Education: Degree or further degree (or equivalent) in a life science such as molecular biology, biochemistry, or genetics.
  2. Experience: Hands-on experience with at least two molecular biology-based assays and techniques.
  3. Analysis and Interpretation: Capable of analysing data and providing interpretation.
  4. Communication Skills: Enthusiasm, drive, thoroughness, diligence, and a willingness to take personal responsibility to ensure that projects are successful, summarizing scientific data in written form to effectively communicate plans, progress, and ideas with Management, Peers, or External Audiences.
  5. IT Skills: Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
