As a Mechanical Engineer at Gov Facility Services Ltd (GFSL), you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our facilities. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical systems, including heating and water systems, to ensure the comfort and safety of our prisoners and staff.
Location:HMP Grendon, a category D male prison, is our primary location. You will work in a dynamic and supportive team environment, collaborating with experienced colleagues to achieve our goals.
Salary:£36,595.10 per annum, plus a range of non-contractual benefits, including Death in Service at 4x salary, access to private GP consultations, and an Employee Assistance Programme.
Contract:Full Time - Perm, with 25 days per year plus Bank Holidays.
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Facilities Maintenance Team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from routine maintenance to complex repairs. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining and repairing mechanical systems, including heating and water systems.
- Conducting routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and inspecting equipment.
- Responding to emergency situations, such as system failures or leaks.
- Collaborating with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives.
- Providing excellent customer service to our prisoners and staff.
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with:
- Two years' experience working in a role as a plumber or equivalent.
- Familiarity with and ability to work to Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements.
- Experience working on commercial or industrial heating and water systems.
- Good working knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements.
- Plumber qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and heating) and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent.
- Good Health & Safety knowledge.
- Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
